The Importance of the LASIK Follow-Up Care
Your LASIK follow-up care and LASIK eye medications are just as important to your results as your actual LASIK procedure. Ideally, your own eye doctor provides this care, but it may also be performed at TLC Laser Eye Centers. Any medication prescribed post LASIK should absolutely be followed. Usually eye drops with anti-inflammatory and anti-biotics are given a long with lubrication drops. These are usually taken for between 4 and 7 days post-op. It is important to follow up on your medication to reduce the risk of complication due to infection.
Most patients notice visual results immediately, however it can take upwards of 6 months for complete healing. Most daily activities can be resumed within 1-7 days after your surgery. Periodic examinations are required to ensure that your eye is healing as expected, to verify that there is no evidence of infection, and to measure your visual progress. Each appointment takes between 5 to 15 minutes.
Annual eye exams are important, we strongly recommend that everyone, not only laser vision correction patients, have a dilated eye exam performed by their eye doctor every year. This is a proactive way to ensure that your eye is healthy and functioning properly.
