Maria C. Scott, M.D. - Medical Director

Dr. Maria Scott is the Medical Director at TLC Laser Eye Centers in Annapolis, Maryland. Considered one of the area's finest and most skilled surgeons, Dr. Scott was the first surgeon in Annapolis to treat patients with the laser vision correction procedure. A 1987 graduate of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Scott completed her ophthalmology residency at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. She received her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. In addition to more than ten years in private practice in the Washington Metropolitan area, Dr. Scott served as a Clinical Instructor at Washington National Eye Center and Washington Hospital Center for five years. Dr. Scott currently trains and supervises other ophthalmologists in laser vision correction. Recently Dr. Scott was listed in Washingtonian Magazine as one of twelve top LASIK surgeons in the area and was named a VISX Star Surgeon, an honor received by the top five percent of laser vision correction surgeons with the highest surgical volume in the United States. Currently an attending surgeon at both Washington Hospital Center and at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Dr. Scott is a member of numerous professional societies. These include the American Academy of Ophthalmology; the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery; the Maryland Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons; the Maryland Medical Society; the Anne Arundel County Medical Society; and the Executive Committee of the Washington Hospital Center.

LaMia D. Jones, O.D. - Clinical Director

Dr. LaMia D. Jones currently holds the Clinical Director position at the TLC Laser Eye Centers- Annapolis. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Science and a Minor in Spanish at the Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania. Her Doctorate in Optometry was earned at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts.

Before joining TLC, Dr. Jones was employed at a boutique optical in Washington, DC and Annapolis, Md where she practiced primary care optometry with an emphasis in fitting contact lenses . She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Maryland Optometric Association. During her free time, you can find Dr. Jones on the dance floor as she is an avid salsa dancer.

O. Duane Ragland, MD

Dr, O. Duane Ragland has practiced Ophthalmology in Maryland and Washington, DC since 1983. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Medicine and served as Resident Surgeon at the Wills Eye Hospital, Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA from 1980 until 1983. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Ragland was the primary eye surgeon in his group practice in Southern Maryland and performed more than 5000 cataract with intraocular lens implant surgeries. In 1993, Dr. Ragland entered the field of refractive surgery - at that time performing Radial Keratotomy (RK) for correction of myopia (nearsightedness). In early 1996, shortly after FDA approval, he became one of the first Ophthalmologists in Maryland to be certified to perform PRK laser vision correction. In 1997, he received certification to perform Lasik and since then has performed more than 2000 vision correction procedures.

Currently, Dr. Ragland performs CustomVue Wave-Front Guided LASIK with the VISX Excimer Laser at the TLC Laser Eye Centers in Annapolis. Most recently, he has completed the certification to use the IntraLase FS Laser for vision correction surgery.
