Karl G. Stonecipher, M.D. - Medical Director
Dr. Karl G. Stonecipher is the Medical Director of TLC Greensboro and
Co-Medical Director for TLC Raleigh. Prior to joining TLC, he was the
Director of the Southeastern Laser and Refractive Surgery Center. He has
been certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology since 1992 and has
performed over 50,000 LASIK procedures.
Dr. Stonecipher received his undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry from Southern Methodist University. His medical degree was obtained from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. His residency in Ophthalmology was at Tulane University from 1987 through 1990. He spent eighteen months in a cornea and refractive surgery fellowship with Dr. J. James Rowsey at the McGee Eye Institute. Additional basic science education was obtained at Stanford University prior to starting in practice at Southeastern Eye Center.
Dr. Stonecipher's memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the International Society for Refractive Surgeons, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Stonecipher has over 100 book chapters, abstracts and articles published nationally and internationally and speaks nationally and internationally on Refractive and Corneal Surgery. He is currently involved in FDA trials for the Study of Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Stonecipher was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He and his wife, Lynne, have two children, Megan and Kody, and live in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Dr. Neil McMackin is the Clinical Director at TLC Laser Eye Centers in Greensboro, NC. Prior to being selected to serve as Clinical Director for TLC, he was the Clinical Director for Southeastern Laser and Refractive Surgery Center.
Dr. McMackin is responsible for overseeing the clinical operations of the center and consulting patients on refractive surgery. He also works closely with our network of optometric physicians who provide pre-operative and post-operative care following laser eye surgery.
Dr. McMackin is a member of the Optometric Association and a member of the NC Optometric Society. He has lectured and published on a variety of topics, focusing primarily on refractive surgery issues.
