Dr. David Boes is the Co-Medical Director at TLC Laser Centers in Billings, MT. He is an experienced refractive surgeon who has performed over 8,000 LASIK and PRK procedures for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. He is comfortable with a wide range of refractive procedures and has operated on many of his fellow physicians and surgeons as well as TLC staff, family, and friends.
In addition to his role as Co-Medical director at TLC, Dr. Boes is a practicing Ophthalmologist at the Great Falls Clinic in Great Falls, MT where he specializes in refractive cataract surgery and glaucoma.
Dr. Boes received his Biology degree at Creighton University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center graduating with highest honors. Dr. Boes completed an Internal Medicine internship and Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Washington in Seattle. He finished his medical training in 1994 with a Fellowship in Glaucoma at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Mark Kontos is a Co-Medical Director at TLC Laser Eye Centers in Billings, MT. He is an experienced refractive surgeon who has performed over 15,000 LASIK and PRK procedures for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
Dr. Kontos graduated with honors from the University of Colorado and then received his medical degree from St. Louis University. While serving nine years in the U.S. Navy, Dr. Kontos completed his residency in flight surgery at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute and his ophthalmology residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego.
Dr. Kontos is the senior partner of Empire Eye Physicians where he provides comprehensive surgical eye care with offices in Washington and Idaho. He has been certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is licensed in Washington, Idaho and Montana. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, Washington Academy of Eye Physicians & Surgeons, and the Idaho Ophthalmology Society.
On several occasions, VISX INC. has honored Dr. Kontos as one of the top 100 refractive surgeons in the United States. Dr. Kontos has also served as a member of TLC's National Medical Board and has lectured at numerous state and national eye meetings on refractive surgery topics.
Dr. Roth is the Clinical Director of TLC Billings. Prior to joining the team at TLC Billings in 2008, he was in private practice in Livingston, Montana where he focused on laser vision correction, ocular disease, specialty contact lenses, as well as primary care. Having had the LASIK procedure in 1999 provides Dr Roth with the unique opportunity to share his experience from a patient’s perspective. Knowing that patients are comfortable communicating with him and that they arrive at decisions appropriate for their individual circumstances is one of the most rewarding aspects of his position. Dr. Roth shares our commitment to position TLC as the foremost provider of laser vision correction in the state of Montana.
Education/Training
Dr. Roth completed his doctor of optometry from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon in 1998. He then went on to a post-doctoral residency in hospital-based optometry and surgical co-management at the Jonathan Wainwright Memorial VA Medical Center and Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute. Educating patients and advocating quality patient care is at the core of his clinical principles.

Dr. Roth is a member of the American Optometric Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. He has served on the board of the Montana Optometric Association and participated in several humanitarian missions with Volunteer Optometrists Serving Humanity.
