Mark G. Speaker, M.D., Ph.D. - Medical Director, TLC Manhattan

Dr. Speaker is the Medical Director for TLC Manhattan and is widely recognized as one of the leading laser vision correction surgeons in the country. As one of the first surgeons in the region to become involved with laser vision correction, he has performed over 25,000 LASIK and PRK procedures as well as other refractive surgeries, lens implants and corneal transplants. Dr. Speaker’s expertise is frequently sought by patients in demanding professions, including pilots, athletes, doctors and law enforcement officers because of his longstanding commitment to excellence and superior results.

Education
Dr. Speaker graduated from Brown University and received his medical and doctorate degrees from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he graduated from the National Institute of Health’s Medical Scientist Training Program, and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the National Medical Honor Society. After an internship in Surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, he completed his ophthalmology residency at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he was appointed Chief Resident. Dr. Speaker then received fellowship training at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia in Corneal and Refractive Surgery. He is a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Accomplishments
Dr. Speaker served as Director of Resident Training, Chief of Cornea Service, and Chairman of the Infection Control Committee at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and also holds a position as an Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology. Dr. Speaker was awarded the VISX Star, which is presented to top Excimer laser surgeons in the United States. He has served on the Program Committee of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and as Program Chair for the International Society of Refractive Surgeons. In addition to being recognized as one of the leading corneal and laser vision correction surgeons in the country by the New York Times, New York Magazine and Castle Connolly, he was elected by his peers for inclusion in the Best Doctors in America® list from 1994 to 2008. Dr. Speaker’s confidence in the LASIK procedure is evidenced by the fact that he has performed the procedure on many friends and family members, including his wife, brother, and mother-in-law to name a few.

Martin L. Fox, M.D., F.A.C.S. - Medical Director, TLC North Jersey

As Medical Director of TLC North Jersey, Dr. Fox continues to stand apart as one of the most accomplished corneal and refractive surgeons in the Greater Metropolitan area. He has performed over 20,000 refractive surgical procedures since 1996 and continues to excel as a leader and authority in the field as a clinician, teacher and patient advocate.

Education/Training
Dr. Fox was a Merit Society Scholar and Honors graduate of Colgate University. He received his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Following a residency in Ophthalmology at Boston University Medical Center, Dr. Fox completed his training with a fellowship in Corneal and Refractive surgery at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American College of Surgeons and the New York Academy of Medicine.

Achievements
Dr. Fox is a clinical instructor in corneal transplantation surgery at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and is a frequent lecturer on topics in Refractive surgery at the national meetings of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He was most recently invited to speak on topics in laser vision correction at the International Medical Advisory Board meeting of Optical Express in Glasgow Scotland. In addition to authoring several notable scientific papers on laser vision correction, he has designed instrumentation used during procedures to improve clinical outcomes. Dr. Fox has been a pioneer in the introduction of new techn ologies in vision correction to the metropolitan area including Intacs corneal implants for patients with keratoconus and ICL surgery (intra ocular contact lenses) for those individuals with prescriptions out of range for conventional laser surgery.

In addition to multiple citations in the print media including Elle and Town and Country Magazine, Dr. Fox has made frequent appearances on ABC television’s “The View” and “Good Morning America” and was most recently been featured on the CBS Evening News as a national expert in LASIK surgery. He has been selected as one of the areas best Refractive surgeons by New York Magazine and the Castle Connelly guide.

Dr. Steven Siegel, O.D. - Clinical Director, TLC Manhattan

Dr. Siegel has served as Clinical Director of TLC Manhattan since January 2005. He graduated from SUNY College of Optometry in 1996 and has devoted his career exclusively to laser vision correction. He has accumulated 10 years of experience and has seen the refractive surgery improvements and changes that have occurred throughout its history.

Dr. Siegel experienced the joys of LASIK firsthand when he had LASIK surgery on his own eyes in 1998 and is still 20/15 today!
