Alberto J. Aran, M.D.

Dr. Aran has been in practice in South Florida since 1986 and has performed more than 30,000 surgical procedures. He was one of the first refractive surgeons in Florida to perform LASIK in 1996, since then he has performed over 10,000 LASIK procedures.

Education
Dr. Aran received his medical degree with honors from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He also completed his post-graduate training in ophthalmology and a fellowship in corneal and external diseases at Tulane.

Memberships
Dr. Aran is Board Certified by both the American Board of Ophthalmology and by the American Board of Eye Surgeons. Dr. Aran is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology for Tulane University School of Medicine, Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor for the State University of New York and Nova Southeastern University. He is an established member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Academy of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

Accomplishments
Dr. Aran was the first ophthalmic surgeon in Florida to use an FDA approved excimer laser and has trained over fifty ophthalmic physicians in the use of excimer laser. He was certified by STAAR Surgical Company as one of the first qualified vision correction surgeons for surgically implanting ICLs (Implantable Collamer lens), providing maintenance-free vision correction intended to last a life time.

Personal
A dedicated family man, Dr. Aran has donated over 1000 clinical and surgical hours to the indigent and needy since the beginning of his medical profession. The U.S. Congress has cited him for his selfless contributions to the needy; he is listed in Who’s Who Amongst Outstanding Americans, and received the Belen Jesuit Prep’s “Men For Others Award”. He has also received awards from the U.S. Air Force, Bruce Heiken Fund, Florida Lions Club, Dade and Broward County Optometric Associations. Most recently Dr. Aran, as an Eagle Scout was presented with the prestigious “Hispanic Heritage Community Award”, by the South Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Adam Stelzer, O.D.

Dr. Adam L. Stelzer is the Clinical Director of the Laser Center of Coral Gables. Born and raised in Bradenton Florida, his expertise lies in the treatment and management of ocular disease and co-management of ophthalmic surgery. Dr. Stelzer specializes in refractive surgery technology and is proficient in all laser and implantable lens procedures.

Education/Training
Dr. Stelzer graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Florida with a Bachelors Degree in Natural Health Sciences. He attended graduate school at NOVA Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale where he graduated with honors with a second Bachelors Degree in Vision Science and his Doctorate of Optometry.

Experience
Dr. Stelzer holds active state licenses in Florida as well as New York and worked as a primary eye care physician in Manhattan before returning to practice in south Florida. Dr. Stelzer has counseled and managed thousands of laser vision correction patients. As clinical director, he oversees the clinical aspects of laser vision correction and manages all the pre and post-operative patient care. He works with our medical director in determining patient candidacy, as well as calculating surgical outcomes. Dr. Stelzer instructs and lectures 4th year optometric externs from several optometry schools across the country as part of their clinical externship program.

Memberships
Dr. Stelzer is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association, the Dade County Optometric Association, and the Optometric Council on Refractive technology.

Interests
When Dr. Stelzer is not seeing patients, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies include running, biking, and traveling.
