Dr. Thomas S. Tooma currently limits his practice to refractive surgery. He has performed over 60,000 surgical procedures. As a principal investigator in excimer laser technology, he has taught hundreds of eye doctors refractive surgical procedures and has certified many ophthalmic surgeons in excimer laser surgery. He has been a participant and an invited speaker and surgeon at many national and international meetings.
Kenneth E. Ekelund, O.D. is Clinical Director for TLC Redding. He graduated from Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO), Fullerton, California, in 1975. Dr. Ekelund received his undergraduate degree in Microbiology/Biochemistry from the California State University, Chico.
Dr. Ekelund opened his own private practice, in the Redding community, and has remained there for over three decades, providing comprehensive vision, contact lens examinations, preoperative, and postoperative cataract, and refractive surgery care. He is experienced in multiple technologies, and has managed thousands of Lasik patients.
Dr. Ekelund has been an integral part in establishing and maintaining a network of affiliated optometrists in the Northern California area who provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patient’s undergoing refractive surgery. He works very closely with these optometrists to help them provide the best care possible to their patients.
Dr. Ekelund has always been at the forefront of leading-edge vision correction technology, and our patients are the fortunate beneficiaries of this passion for education. He is dedicated to help his patient’s achieve the best eyesight possible.
Dr. Ekelund resides in Redding, with his wife, Jodi, and 2 teenage daughters, Whitney, age 17 and Brooke, age 15. He enjoys fly fishing, golf and mountain biking.
