99% of Surveyed TLC Patients Would Refer Others to TLC
Back to TopTLC LASIK Patients Have High Satisfaction and Improved Quality of Life
The vast majority of the surveyed TLC Laser Eye Centers patients who had LASIK or other laser vision correction procedures are very satisfied with the results, and most said that the overall quality of their lives and daily routines have improved, according to the results of a recent TLC patient study. TLC's study mirrors the recent Harris Interactive Survey commissioned by the Eye Surgery Education Council (ESEC). That survey was the first nationwide quality of life survey assessing life implications for laser vision correction patients. Both the TLC survey and the Harris survey clearly show that laser vision correction has a profound positive impact on overall quality of life, daily routine, and job performance. However, the TLC survey results outperformed those of Harris in almost all areas, indicating that TLC patients surveyed reported experiencing the highest quality of patient care and achieving excellent results.
CustomLASIK. The Difference You've Been Waiting For
Back to TopThe FDA has recently approved a new technology that will change how your eye doctor views your vision problems. It's called CustomLASIK. CustomLASIK is a laser vision correction procedure that uses the unique visual characteristics of your eye to customize your treatment.
TLC - Tulsa uses the VISX Star S4 excimer laser technology that has been used to provide over 5 million LASIK procedures worldwide. Recently, we added this latest technology to diagnose and measure a patient's personal refractive error. This technology, known as the VISX WaveScan gives us a more precise level of detailed information about a patient's vision that has not been previously available. We are confident that our choice in technology along with our doctor's skill will be the most effective way of providing you a successful outcome and great visual results. By using the WaveScan to better understand a patient's unique visual needs, we can determine the best procedure for their eyes.
TLC opened North America's first CustomLASIK center in Toronto, Canada in January 2002. TLC Doctors have been key contributors to the development of this technology. We are one of the first companies to proactively offer our patients the latest in wavefront technology, a personalized approach to vision correction.
No two eyes are alike and TLC recognizes that all-refractive conditions deserve special technology
Back to TopThe LADARVISION SYSTEM is the only real-time laser radar tracking system that can measure eye movement 4000 times each second and follows the movement of your eye precisely. In addition to the tracking capabilities, another unique feature of the LADARVision laser is that it uses a flying small spot beam, which moves rapidly across the cornea in a computer-controlled pattern. This smaller beam is less than one-sixth the size of a standard laser beam and allows your TLC surgeon to perform high-precision corneal re-shaping.
If you are one of the many people who can't be treated using the standard "broad-beam laser technology because of conditions such as large pupils or complex astigmatism, the LadarVision system may be an option for you. To find out if you are a good candidate for laser vision corrections call TLC Tulsa at 888.TLC.2020 to schedule your complimentary consultation.
State of the art technology means not only new lasers but also includes new programming for existing lasers, new or refined vision measurement devices, and refinements in LASIK surgical instruments. TLC believes that getting the best patient outcomes isn't the result of simply having the best equipment - it also requires knowing how to use it. TLC doctors are rigorously trained beyond government requirements and are required to engage in ongoing clinical education to maintain their high level of expertise.
TLC Tulsa Uses Most Recent, Proven Technology
Back to TopThe Autonomous Laser system is an excellent alternative for patients with large pupils and for hyperopic (farsighted) patients with astigmatism. If the Autonomous laser system isn't precisely right for your eyes, TLC can turn to other lasers since we have the right laser for every eye.
TLC uses only clinically proven government approved equipment that is effective in vision treatment and TLC has the experience and knowledge to know which laser is right for you. The technology used in laser vision correction continues to evolve rapidly. As the leader in laser vision correction, TLC has the resources to select the best equipment and maintain it carefully according to specifications.

Bladeless LASIK
Back to TopLASIK surgery may be elective, but good vision is not. We understand how valuable your sight is to you, and we keep our sights set on providing safe and advanced technologies for our patients. That is why Bladeless LASIK using the IntraLase® laser is a technology that is used in some of our centers in North America.
What is Bladeless LASIK?
In the LASIK and Custom LASIK procedures, a flap of corneal tissue is created and then folded back. The cornea is the transparent dome-like structure that covers the iris and pupil of your eye. By creating a flap in the cornea, the surgeon is able to perform the laser vision correction treatment on the inner layer of the cornea and allows for a rapid visual recovery.
With Bladeless LASIK, the surgeon uses a laser to create the corneal flap. This technology enables the surgeon the ability to customize the corneal flap for every individual patient. In recent studies done by IntraLase, this technology may now make it possible to treat those who were previously dismissed as non candidates due to thin corneas.
Our doctors can offer customization for you in all parts of the procedure: custom diagnosis (before the procedure), custom flap (Bladeless LASIK), and custom treatment (to complete the procedure).
Confidence in Your Decision
As with all technologies that TLC uses, please consult your local TLC Laser Eye Center for guidance. A comprehensive consultation will determine what is the best treatment for you.
- Studies have shown the incidence of dry eye symptoms may be reduced with Bladeless LASIK
- With Bladeless LASIK and its customization components, surgeons can treat a wider variety of patients, including patients with thin corneas.
- Bladeless LASIK has been used in more than 500,000 LASIK procedures worldwide.
Independent U.S. Navy Study Presents Benefits of Custom LASIK Procedure
Back to TopStudy Reflects Results Shown by TLC Custom LASIK Patients
An independent study recently conducted by the U.S. Navy demonstrates that Custom LASIK produces better quality outcomes compared to conventional LASIK for vision correction. The study, the first of its kind, found that 97% of patients treated with Custom LASIK acquired 20/20 vision, versus 88% with conventional LASIK. Custom LASIK can help military personnel see better at night and also avoid the challenges of using glasses or contact lenses in the battlefield. Soldiers who wear eyeglasses must have gas masks with prescription eye inserts that can limit peripheral vision.
Same Technology Approved by NASA is Available at TLC Laser Eye Centers
Back to TopThe National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) has announced the approval of Bladeless Custom LASIK vision correction for their astronauts - the same bladeless custom technology that is also available nationwide at TLC Laser Eye Centers.
NASA's approval came following a review of extensive military clinical data using the same two lasers employed in our Bladeless Custom LASIK. The research showed that the use of the combination of technologies provided superior safety and vision - results TLC Centers agree are unparalleled.
