David J. Schanzlin

David J. Schanzlin, MD is regarded as a worldwide authority and leader in the refractive surgery field.  He is the Director of Keratorefractive Surgery at the prestigious UCSD Shiley Eye Center and has performed over 20,000 refractive procedures.  In his twenty-five years as a refractive surgeon, Dr. Schanzlin has had a hand in developing a number of new refractive technologies. These include Intacs, which is approved by the FDA,  the excimer laser used in LASIK eye surgery and the Femtosecond technology used for bladeless LASIK flap creation.
