Education

Richard L. Tax, M.D., F.A.C.S earned his M.D. degree from Cornell University College of Medicine in 1970. Upon completion of his internship in medicine and surgery, he entered themilitary service as a Captain and Flight Surgeon at Andrews Air Force Base nearWashington, DC. Dr. Tax spent three years (1973-1976) as resident surgeon at the Wills Eye Hospital. He entered private practice the following year. He became an affiliate surgeon with TLC Laser Eye Centers in 1996. He has performed thousands of LASIK and PRK procedures.

Memberships/ Accomplishments

Dr. Tax is certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology. In addition, Dr. Tax is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS). A pioneering refractive surgeon since 1981, Dr. Tax is an acknowledged expert in all clinically available techniques to surgically reduce nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
