Richard Tipperman

Education

Dr. Richard Tipperman is originally from New York and completed his undergraduate studies at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York and medical school at the University of Rochester. Dr. Tipperman completed an ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital and served as Chief Resident at Wills Eye Hospital. Dr. Tipperman remains an active member of the teaching staff at Wills and has lectured locally, nationally and internationally on a variety of ophthalmic surgical topics including refractive surgery.

History

Dr. Tipperman has maintained a private practice in ophthalmology since 1991 and has been named by his peers to both "Best Doctors in the United States" and "Best Doctors in Philadelphia". Dr. Tipperman has been performing Refractive Surgery since 1991 and presently limits his practice to Lasik surgery, Cataract surgery, and correction of Complications of Cataract surgery.

Patients interested in Refractive surgery are evaluated personally by Dr. Tipperman even in the initial evaluation. The purpose for this is three-fold(1) it allows Dr. Tipperman to determine if the individual is an appropriate candidate for the surgery, (2) it allows for time to ensure that the patient is well educated regarding Lasik surgery and (3) it allows Dr. Tipperman to develop a specific recommendation for refractive surgery "custom tailored" to the individual patient.
