Boston LASIK Reviews

I've always been a bit of a scatterbrain, and I've spent far too much of my life searching for my glasses. Once I spent an hour looking, only to find that I had dropped them in an open Cheez-it box while half asleep.

I couldn't do contacts because I have a phobia of things going in my eyes. I got fitted for them but couldn't get myself to put them in and take them out without a near panic attack. I didn't think Lasik was an option because I envisioned some futuristic torture device. That was obviously not the case.

One year my glasses were stolen along with some sunblock in a bag by the pool in Las Vegas. The following year I left a different pair by the hottub at a Mexico resort, and somehow they were gone 20 minutes later when I went back to look for them. They never showed up. That was the last straw. I made an appointment at TLC 3 days after I returned.

The nurse at TLC suggested that because of my vision and my lifestyle, PRK would work better for me, and they had an opening in 2 weeks. Feeling some anxiety, I booked it nonetheless. TLC expained everything in simple realistic language and didn't pull any gimmicks. When I met the doctor I felt more at ease because he was one of the warmest, gentlest doctors I had ever met.

In the 24 hours leading up to my procedure, I couldn't sleep, my heart was pounding, I could barely eat, hyperventilated and almost left the clinic twice. It turned out all of that was unnecessary. They gave me a mild sedative, brought me into the room, and the machine was really not scary at all. I experienced some unusual, borderline surreal sensations, but ultimately it was painless and over in about 15 minutes.

Be prepared to spend a few days in the dark afterward, but that's a small price to pay for the freedom of not needing glasses anymore. There was a short time early in the healing process when I had some burry vision and wondered if I had made the right choice. The answer is yes.

I no longer have to worry about sitting on them or losing them. I sing in a band, so I can step out onstage and see the audience without a pair of glasses getting in the way of my rockstar persona. I can hop in the pool without worry. I would recommend TLC to anyone interested in a more carefree life.
