Pittsburgh LASIK Reviews

The people in the office were great as I planned my surgery. I had an issue with my doctor back home and they helped me find an excellent doctor fairly close by that they had worked with before. They also made sure I had all of my appointments set up and knew what to plan for the week after surgery as far as taking time off work and not driving. I went to this location in the morning for my last consultation in the morning and the doctor determined I needed to have PRK not LASIK. I was very nervous and anxious about this. The staff was great about reassuring me and answering my questions. The surgery took about 10 minutes and all went well. I was concerned about the healing time that PRK takes and wondered how my vision would be. I was fairly blurry (but still much better than without glasses or contacts) for the first 3 days. They warned me I would be uncomfortable for the first few days. I was very uncomfortable for the first 2 hours after surgery and some on day 2 (it was very bright outside and as a result inside my house). The best solution was to sleep on this day and I took a pain pill to make sure that I could. I recommend having an audio book or new music to listen to as watching TV/reading will be out of the question most of the time. I also suggest getting a pair of GOOD sunglasses to wear Post-surgery. They give you sunglasses but I wanted my own unique pair to wear after the first day. Now two weeks later I am at 20/30 and I am not done healing according to my doctor so it still should improve. I was able to drive by one week after surgery. The best recommendation I have is to do the drops as directed and listen to your eyes, they will tell you when you need to rest. Some people have asked me what it felt like the days after. Most of the time it feels like I have a dry/irritated contact in my eye even after the bandages were removed. This got better after the first 1.5 weeks. I experience it at night when my eyes are tired. Sometimes at night I have had a lot of "halos" and have difficulty seeing but when my vision is 100% clear it does appear better than before surgery. I am hopeful that as I continue to heal my vision will be 20/20, as is my doctor. When it fluctuates I find that I can see most things but have trouble with fine/small print. PRK was not as terrible as I thought it sounded (the healing time and process wasn't as appealing as with LASIK) and having the bandages in was not a problem like I thought it might be. Even though I am not through my healing process yet I am happy and pleased with the outcome. It was worth it!
