Dr. David R. Hardten

Education/Training

An ophthalmologist with sub-specialty expertise in corneal, refractive and laser surgery, Dr. Hardten completed his doctor of medicine degree at the University of Kansas, after which he served a three-year residency in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota. He completed a sub-specialty fellowship in corneal and refractive surgery and external medicine of the eye at the University of Minnesota, Phillips Eye Institute, and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Dr. Hardten is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Eye Bank Association of America Paton Society, International Society for Refractive Surgery, Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology, Minnesota Medical Association, Refractive Surgery Interest Group and AAO.

Dr. Hardten has an active clinical practice in Ophthalmology. Dr. Hardten lectures on eye disorders, corneal and refractive surgery at both national and international conferences. Dr. Hardten specializes in the treatment of corneal and ocular disease, refractive surgery and corneal transplant surgery. He has special interests in excimer laser and the laser in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK) procedure, and has published many articles and chapters concerning refractive surgery. He is a member of the Clinical Advisory Board for TLCVision.
