Dr. Dean Ellis, is recognized nationally as one of the most experienced LASIK surgeons in the United States. Since 1998, he has performed more than 110,000 laser vision correction procedures, placing him among the most accomplished refractive surgeons in the country. Throughout his career, he has trained over 50 eye surgeons on the LASIK procedure and has contributed to research publications that have advanced the field of refractive surgery.
Patients in highly demanding professions—including pilots, professional athletes, physicians, and members of the military and law enforcement—regularly seek Dr. Ellis for his expertise, precision, and long-standing commitment to exceptional outcomes. His reputation for excellence has also attracted public figures, including comedian and television host Nikki Glaser, who recently hosted the Golden Globe Awards.
A native of the Midwest, Dr. Ellis completed his medical education at the University of Missouri in Columbia, earning both his B.A. and M.D. He went on to complete his Ophthalmology residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the nation’s oldest public university and a program consistently ranked among the top in the country. He received additional specialized LASIK training at Emory University in Atlanta and later served as an investigator in one of the early clinical trials of Collagen Crosslinking for keratoconus.
Dr. Ellis believes deeply in the safety and effectiveness of LASIK—so much so that he underwent the procedure many years ago. His professional achievements have been recognized by the Guide to America’s Top Ophthalmologists, and he has received the American Medical Association’s Physician’s Recognition Award. He is Board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, is a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Ellis resides in Brooklyn, New York. His son works at Juilliard and is an opera singer.
