Dr. Jon Ellis, M.D., FAAO, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and a distinguished veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he led high-volume laser refractive surgery centers. Since 2008, he has performed over 7,000 successful vision correction procedures. Today, he specializes in advanced LASIK and ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) surgery, helping patients achieve exceptional visual freedom.
After earning his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, Dr. Ellis completed his ophthalmology residency through the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. His military service included directing laser centers at Keesler Air Force Base and Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. Under his leadership, the Keesler facility became the second most productive and cost-efficient laser center in the entire USAF.
Dr. Ellis is widely recognized for driving measurable improvements in patient outcomes. He implemented key clinical enhancements at both Keesler and Landstuhl that raised refractive surgery success rates to a remarkable 96%—achieving 20/20 uncorrected vision for the vast majority of patients. In addition to his LASIK expertise, he is fully certified in ICL surgery, offering a premium solution for those who may not be ideal candidates for laser correction.
