With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Michael Summerfield is a cataract and refractive surgery specialist and leader in the laser eye surgery field. He specializes in complex intraocular surgery, cataract and refractive surgery, and cornea cross-linking. Additionally, Dr. Summerfield has worked as Residency Program Director at Georgetown University and established a thriving medical and surgical practice in the Washington DC Metro Area.
In addition to earning many accolades for research and teaching, Dr. Summerfield has published several peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters and lectured both in the United States and abroad. Dr. Summerfield is an active member in several ophthalmic societies like the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
In his spare time, Dr. Summerfield loves to spend time with his family. On the weekends, you can often find him watching his kids play soccer and hockey or enjoying the great outdoors through camping or running.
