Dr. Ryan Roberts

Dr. Ryan Roberts

With double undergraduate majors in Biology and Computer Science, Dr. Ryan Roberts has developed a passion to address human error in the medical field.  He is confident that technology can foster trust with patients and doctors and make sure treatments are performed with that highest level of accuracy and precision. His fervor has led him to produce a first of its kind digital verification tool that is used at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Dr. Roberts is a leader in the laser eye surgery field and has lectured many times at the Military Refractive Surgery Safety Symposium and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Throughout his years as a refractive surgeon, Dr. Roberts has performed over 20,000 procedures. In the Washington DC Metro Area, he currently performs more weekly treatments than any other surgeon in the area.

Dr. Roberts grew up in Utah, where he earned his dual degree from the University of Utah. He loves the Rocky Mountains and travels there each winter to ski. He now lives in Silver Springs, Maryland with Amy, three children Lily, Cole and Molly, and his Irish Doodle, Obi.

EDUCATION | TRAINING

Dr. Roberts has been practicing laser eye surgery in the Maryland and Virginia community as a comprehensive ophthalmologist since 2015. He has also proudly been serving the US Military family and service members since 2004. In 2008, he earned his medical degree from the Uniformed University of the Health Sciences.

After medical school, he continued on to Walter Reed Medical Center to begin a Neurosurgery residency. Once he completed his residency, he deployed to Afghanistan as a Flights Surgeon with the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade for a year. While his time overseas did not include ophthalmology training, Dr. Roberts believes his experiences providing care for those fighting for our country has largely shaped who he is as both a surgeon and a person.
